Politics As Usual
- is it -
? Cooperation or Exploitation?

The options:

  1. submit to the insurrectionists.
  2. peacefully resist (withhold consent). Click here for more. Click here & here for buttons to share (pdf).
  3. violently resist (fight back).

Option 1 might resemble paying for protection to insurrectionists themselves instead of relying on official police or private security. This resembles paying 'protection money' to the mob. One example can be found here. Simply accepting the new set of rules imposed by 'rebels' would be the ultimate submision.

Option 2 would simply withohld consent. To abandon the area for a safe location is one possibility (bug out). Perhaps some threat of force (mutually assured destruction?) can be negotiated...or cede the field to particular areas (partition, secession, gerrymander). Private security or voluntary quasi-police (ex: Neigborhood Watch or posse) can defend people or property. Refuse service. Don't supply demands. Worst case: If your business is threatened, abandon it (or burn it down) before the looters do their damage. You lose but they don't gain.

Option 3 would require attacking the threat. It would be an offensive effort - as in counter-revolution. This might involve using existing official government police/military forces; private security forces; vigilante or voluntary group action; community militias; secret organizations; or a combination of these. Augusto Pinochet would be an example of attacking the resistance. For more on Option 3 click here.

A society’s body of laws represent the norms acceptable to enough of the people to voluntaily and ‘cooperatively’ interact with each other (Social Contract or Common Interest).

Exploitation is the opposite of cooperation. Crime is a clear example of exploitation. Nobody wants to be a crime victim. Theft is a crime. Laws can also exploit people. Unwanted taxation is theft. Regulating choices is theft of liberty.

Resistance strategy should be to regain cooperation. This means the cost of exploitation must be made to exceed its benefits.

The current political conflict is between the ‘red’ culture and the ‘blue’. The blue culture is essentially urban. This means it is geographically concentrated; dependent on outside resources; highly reliant on experts who often live outside cities to keep the machine running.

Tactics would target infrastructure. Degrade the electric grid and the whole city stops. Withhold supply delivery and nothing can be manufactured or processed. Destroy the reservoirs and everyone dies. Threaten management and commerce ceases to function. Costs will mount quickly, perhaps even without firing a shot. The blue culture will lose the will to exploit and regain the will to cooperate.

"I see the liberty of the individual ... as the necessary condition for the flowering of all the other goods that mankind cherishes: moral virtue, civilization, the arts and sciences, economic prosperity. Out of liberty, then, stem the glories of civilized life.” Murray Rothbard
