Politics As Usual

Satisfaction We do things to satisfy ourselves. Life is a continuing Cost-Benefit calculation. Is what we do worth the cost? This calculation is fundamental to all choices. Do we prefer THIS or THAT? Walk or drive? Buy bread or sell it? Work or play? Vote for A or B? Obey or resist? Kill or be killed? More likely we prefer to survive and prosper. (One example is here. ) So we choose to act accordingly. If the price of satisfaction rises we may prefer a different choice. What was once acceptable is then no longer tolerated. In politics a gap forms between government and the governed. As this gap widens so does tolerance . This is where we now find ourselves. How can libertarians satisfy? Libertarians are the ‘Party of Principles’. Unfortunately, 97% of voters are currently unprincipled because the politically relevant fact of the matter is - Plunder is more popular than liberty. (see here) Economics is about what people want to pay for (cooperation). Politics is about what people want OTHER people to pay for (exploitation). (see here) Who wants to be exploited? (see here) Liberty will again become politically relevant once there is little left to plunder.

"I see the liberty of the individual ... as the necessary condition for the flowering of all the other goods that mankind cherishes: moral virtue, civilization, the arts and sciences, economic prosperity. Out of liberty, then, stem the glories of civilized life.” Murray Rothbard |
