Now for the good news.

Yes, We, The People want more than liberty. So libertarians need to learn how to explain the real world benefits of liberty. Libertarians need to explain why a libertarian government will be better than another alternative - how liberty translates to a better life. report how government favors are not favors at all. Individual liberty must become more than an abstract concept. We need to point out specific government failures and emphasize actual costs government imposes on people. What can the Libertarian Party do to make lives not just more free - but better? This is the challenge. Libertarians must persuade people that their lives improve with less government even though they now think the very opposite.

BigGovernment has become unsustainable. The Tragedy of the Commons is real. What can not be paid will not be paid. BigGovernment means big problems - not big solutions. Big costs promise small benefits. Ergo, if bigger government means smaller benefits - less government is the better future. Libertarians just have to be patient. A libertarian future is inevitable because the alternative - BigGovernment has no future. You and I will have to find ways to convince many more people our libertarian values are worth their support and their vote because it will improve their lives.

What is the supporting evidence? Uncover it. Share it with other people. It is hard to convince people to question their long held assumptions - but it is also necessary.

Right now we are bombarded with news reports of people in crisis from all over the globe. On TV we see strife seemingly everywhere. People suffer in bankrupt Greece. Economic difficulties have also been reported for years in Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Iceland, Cyprus. There are troubles in Ukraine and other places around the Caspian Sea.

Similar seriouss social difficulties are making headlines in this country, in our New York State and municipalities within.
