Guns stolen from sheriff substation
By DENNIS

Three loaded semiautomatic were among the items stolen from the Saratoga County Sheriff's Halfmoon station early Christmas morning, prompting police Friday to ask for the public's assistance in locating the stolen goods. Investigators were "working around the clock" to find the three .45-caliber duty pistols, approximately 10 clips of ammunition, two canisters of pepper spray, two portable radios and two bullet-proof vests that were taken from the Lower Newtown Road resident deputy station sometime after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Undersheriff Michael Woodcock said. The thief or thieves smashed the facility's front window to get inside the station, which did not have an alarm system, Woodcock said. "It's as brazen as anything I've seen," Woodcock said. "We've never had anything like this happen." The weapons were stolen from a "secure" place within the building, Woodcock said, without elaborating. (sniped) |
